A disciple of Jesus is a student or a follower. Maybe the best modern example of a disciple is an apprentice. An apprentice doesn’t simply learn facts, skills, or competencies. An apprentice is a person who becomes competent in leading someone else to master a craft or skill. Disciples are people who will increasingly place themselves under the rule and reign of King Jesus. People who not only know the ways of the Messiah, but obey the ways of the Messiah. The Gospel of Mark is a book of action. Action built on two confessions. A belief that the historic Jesus of Nazareth is the long awaited Messiah (Mark 8:29) and that this Jesus is The Son of God (Mark 15:39). As we journey through the Book of Mark get ready for a fast paced adventure of what it means to be a disciple as WE GO through this life. We are not just any group of people...We are followers of Jesus and as WE GO we will carry the name of Jesus. Oh, what a name that is!
