Parents,
Hey everyone, I just wanted to give a quick pop in to update you on what we do or what to expect in Eastanallee Students. (I have a desire to do this in person one day soon in a brief parent meeting.) We have a "crew" of new students (mainly middle school 6th grade). With new students comes questions like "What do y'all do over there? What does a Fall Retreat or Summer Camp look like? How does a normal Wednesday night flow?" All of these are great questions that schedules allowing, I would love to sit down with you and walk through this all, but until that time I wanted to put this out to you. Below you will see normal schedules of the weekly outlook for students, Fall Retreat schedules and expectation, as well as our "new" Sunday School format where we will have weekly small groups based off the sermon preached that Sunday morning.
As always, know that I am praying for each of you and your students specifically, and in light of this update, please send me any questions you may have about what's going on in the student ministry.
Fall Retreat
What to expect: Each year when we head to fall retreat it becomes a favorite time of the year for the students. I am not sure if you have if you have ever been one but below is a sample schedule of how we break our time together down. What's not in that schedule is:
- Small Groups are Age/Grade/Gender based. These take place directly after our large group teaching session. These groups are led by an adult leader with questions based off of the lesson.
- Time With God Family Groups are mixed grade groups that are based off of an assigned reading with specific questions.
Roommates are grouped as close to age/grade as possible!
Other things: Obviously phones aren't "allowed" (Meaning if brought that are to be kept up the ENTIRE time we are at the retreat and on the way to and from), but also, there are no tv's allowed to be on in rooms. TV's are turned on in common areas during free time (usually a big football game is on 1-2 TV's).
There is also no "free roaming". We have a nice cabin... we stay in it!!! So we aren't outside during our stay.

Sermon Based Small Groups
We have moved to small groups based off the sermon this past Sunday. We have done this as we believe this is the best way to “sit” in a text and reason through it. We have done this in the past as a way to test/experiment with this and it has proven effective. It is challenging to process two different lessons within 15 minutes so our goal here is to make sure we are getting the first one!
-This is helpful to students AND ALSO helpful to you. We are going to look at putting a question or two out to you for you to randomly propose to your child in your “as you go” discipleship (Deuteronomy 6:4).

September 27th- Students will stay in the sanctuary to hear from Brian Chauncey
October 4th- Ephesians 5:21-33 (Overview and Testimonies)
October 11th- Ephesians 6:1-3

November 1st- Ephesians 6:10-13
November 8th- Ephesians 6:14-17
November 15th- Ephesians 6:18-23
Each week be on the lookout the small group questions to go out on Facebook and the RemindApp and another way to be in the loop is lookout for the "YouVersion Bible App" event going live each Friday for Eastanallee as Pastor Jonathan post his notes each week there! So get ahead of Sunday as we will post the scripture and "potential" small group questions weekly by seeing the points AND applications each week!
